Circulation of non-traditional rowing boats in Venice canals

Here an extract from the ordinance on water traffic restrictions for non-traditional rowing boats. Please read it carefully. Thanks!

“In the Grand Canal, Canale di Cannaregio, in the canals of the San Marco district, and in the other canals and canals where public shipping services authorized by the Municipality of Venice are active, the navigation of boats called jole, dragon boat, skates, pedal boats, canoes, kayaks, rowing boards, sailboards and any other mode of propulsion, water-bikes, dinghies and any other type similar to these is prohibited.

In the canals of dei Greci – San Lorenzo, Santa Giustina, Sant’Antonin – Pietà, di Noale – Canale della Misericordia, Novo-di Ca ‘Foscari, dei Santi Apostoli-Gesuiti and in the remaining canals of the Z.t.l. in the lagoon it is forbidden to navigate the boats called jole, dragon boats, skates, pedal boats, canoes, kayaks, rowing boards, sailboards and any other mode of propulsion, water-bikes, dinghies and any other type similar to these, from Monday to Friday (07.00-17.00), and on Saturdays 7.00-15.00, excluding holidays. However, crossing the Grand Canal is excluded.

Transits are conditioned by the presence among the on-board equipment of a white light with uninterrupted light visible for 360 ° always present and to be kept on from half an hour after sunset to half an hour before sunrise”.
