Photographic Competition for the 2011
Vogalonga Poster
The Committee would like to invite all amateur photographers
enrolled in the 36th Vogalonga and members of the public
to take part in the photographic competition Manifesto Vogalonga
2011.
Photographs should focus on significant scenes
and images related to the
world of the Vogalonga, the rowers, boats and the landscapes, in
line with the spirit of the event, as expressed by the Committee.
The Vogalonga is an act of love for Venice and its waters, for its
lagoon and its islands, for rowing and the boats. Since its
inception, the Vogalonga has retained its original purpose: to
disseminate knowledge, awareness and respect for the essence and
culture of our city.
All photographs entered will be checked by the Committee for
suitability in terms of the aims and criteria of the competition,
then posted on the official Vogalonga web site where they can be
voted for online by internet users, after registration.
The photographs will also be on display - at a time and place to be
decided - in a special video installation where they can be voted
for by means of a printed card.
Voting will close on 1 October 2010.
The 10 photographs that receive the highest number of votes will be
announced at an award ceremony in October and put on display by the
Committee in a place to be decided.
The single winning photograph will be selected with the help of a
jury made up of two Committee members, professional photographer
Marc De Tollenaere and journalist Sebastiano Giorgi.
The announcement of the winning photograph will be made in early May
2011 and the image used for the poster of the 2011 Vogalonga.
All voting results will be published on the web site
www.vogalonga.com, and winners will receive notice at the personal
e-mail address they gave on registration.
Rules for Entry
To participate, a maximum of three photographs, in digital format,
need to be sent to the Committee no later than 30 June 2010, as
follows:
- low resolution (72dpi), 1500px on the longest side to
photo@vogalonga.com
Each image must be accompanied by the photographer's name and
surname, age, postal address, telephone number and e-mail.
The winning image must have a corresponding original that is large
enough in terms of resolution and dimensions, for use as the
image-poster for Vogalonga 2011.
Rights and Responsibilities
Each author must assume full responsibility for the content of
photographs presented for the competition, and have relevant model
releases; unless otherwise specified in writing, authorization is
given for the images to be used on posters and the Vogalonga web
site with the inclusion of the author's name, and without incurring
fees.
Copyright of the photographs belongs to the respective authors, who
authorize the Vogalonga Committee to use the images free of charge
for the purposes of the event.
The organization reserves the right to refuse photographs that it
considers unsuitable and not in line with the competition
guidelines.
By enrolling, all participants agree to accept these regulations.
