GUIDELINES
- Start Line:
All boats are invited to gather
between St. Mark’s Basin and the Giudecca Canal, ready to start
together at the cannon shot. Faster boats should be in the front
line, so as not to be hindered.

- Critical Points: The
points marked in the illustration below (Vignole, S. Erasmo,
Mazzorbo, Tre Archi) show bottlenecks where boats should slow down
and try to form an orderly line.
Please always keep inside the navigable canals, so as to prevent any
possible damage to the boats.
- Cannaregio Canal: When
arriving at this point, please try to steer the boat in line with
the canal’s entrance to facilitate the passage, especially under the
Tre Archi bridge. Please make room for the boats for which steering
is more difficult (yole rowing boats)
- Arrival: Please slow down
before reaching the finishing line (time of arrival is irrelevant in
the Vogalonga). There are two landing places, one along the bank,
and one in the middle of the canal: please do not flock together to
the bank, but also move to the middle.
- Return:
While going back, please keep to the
sides of the Grand Canal.
- Rest Stops: Along the
route, there will be “official” rest stops at the entrance of the
Mazzorbo Canal and beyond the arrival line. There will be other rest
stops, to be defined later.
- Emergency: Throughout the
route, there will be several rescue and police boats to assist boats
experiencing troubles. All boats are connected via radio.
During the competition you can contact the Organizing Committee on
the telephone no. +39 338 7011864 which will promptly call the
Medical Unit.
